CAN’T I JUST BE A NICE PERSON⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This CAN’T I JUST BE A NICE PERSON⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is just one of the thoughts I had over the weekend. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A thought I had because of my White privilege. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yes, you can be a nice person, but taking action is a better option. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was afraid if I spoke up I would say the wrong thing in the wrong way. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Silence is worse than showing up messy. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’re not sure about something do some research in your own, do not ask a Black friend to explain it to you. It’s not their job to explain this to you. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Here are some action steps if you’re not sure where to start:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1. Listen to your Black friends. Tell them you love them. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2. Sign up for one of these workshops led by Black women. Pay them to educate you.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ @Simone.Mcnish’s workshop called Inclusion, Diversity and Privilege in coaching and entrepreneurship is the one I’m taking next time she runs it. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Or ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ @trudilebron’s Show up & Serve a workshop for White coaches. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3. Donate. People are on the street and they need your support. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 4. Talk to your kids about racism and White privilege. Google “how to talk to your kids about race”, there’s tons of resources out there. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There’s lots of information on Google, it’s not hard to find, but it is work and it will be uncomfortable.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Being a nice person is fine, but what we need right now is change. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Being a nice person is inaction and people are getting murdered for no other reason than the color of their skin. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Being a nice person isn’t enough. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I will continue to learn and unlearn, I’m inviting you join me in doing the work and moving through the uncomfortable parts that are to come. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As well as the ladies linked above check out these accounts to learn more @rachel.cargle @nowhitesaviors @ckyourprivelige @blklivesmatter @thegreatunlearn ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #blacklivesmatter
7 STEPS TO A HIGHLY ENGAGED INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ FIRST! Thank you your support on my post yesterday! I appreciate this community so much!💕⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ Ok, on to the steps!⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨Share this post with someone who might find it helpful!✨⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ When I have a strategy session with a new client here’s a list of items we go over in-depth focused on their account. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ Inviting bio that tells us who you are and how you can help us. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ Call to Action and working link. Why do we need to click? Double-check that yours works.👍🏼⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ Your profile has an organized feed with fresh content. When new people come to your profile is the most recent post from a year ago, two months ago or a few days ago? People want to be part of a vibrant community so make your account active by posting a few times per week and using inviting images. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨You’re showing your face. I know we all love a clean stock photo but show us your face on your squares and in your stories😍⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ Stories are active. Post several times per day. I don’t post on a schedule but a good rule of thumb is every 3 hours. By using this strategy your story will keep popping up at the beginning of the line. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ DM's are hoppin’. A few weeks ago I gave you the task of DM’ing 10 people. Did you do it?⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ ✨ You actively like and comment on your community’s posts. Part of my engagement strategy includes going out into our community to like, comment, and watch your stories. Have you seen my 7 things today list in my stories? When I post about Instagram engagement hour this is what I’m doing. I WAS DEEP IN MY QUARANCOMA⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ I hadn’t been exercising and was feeling stiff and honestly I was starting to get depressed. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ Have you been feeling it too? That part of life where we’re using every ounce of energy just to get through the corona-coaster that makes up each stay-at-home day. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ Here’s what I did to create a new routine and start moving my body. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ I restarted the C25K app. I did it years ago but then summer came and I hurt my knee and blah, blah, blah the excuses didn’t stop and I never went back. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ Today was week 2 day 1 and other than it being humid af here, and my thighs feeling like cement, it’s actually going quite well. I even made it out and back this morning before the rainstorm hit. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ My goal is to use the app every other day ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ and now I’ve declared my goal out loud so I have to stick to it!🙌🏼⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ (Side note: did you know it take 30 days to make or break a habit?)⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ I’m usually cheering you on, but can we switch roles and you cheer me on for a minute?⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ I could use your support and accountability, so I’ll be logging my C25K on my 7 THINGS TODAY in my stories.⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ You can totes call me out if you notice I haven’t shared in a few days. ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ What’s a goal you’re working towards? I have the paid version, but the free has tons of options. I edited this image in Over. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✌🏼 RUSH - video editing app from Adobe. I use it for IGTV’s. InShot has a free version that works great. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤟🏼 PLANOLY - I use this to plan out my grid, but choose to manually post instead of Planoly posting for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🖖🏼 GOOGLE DRIVE - Docs for writing my posts and organizing content. Sheets for hashtag lists and lead tracking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🖐🏼 PICSARTS - super fun photo editing app. Both free and paid versions. I have the free version and used it to edit the image I posted yesterday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I use Instagram 99.97% of the time to Style My Stories and create the fancy story magic right here in the app.✨💁🏻‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your turn!
